The reading passages that teachers provided us on weekends are very significant and meaningful. We set out to analyze these passages in three ways: new words, complex sentences and summary. Therefore, it typically illustrates how to do an intensive reading. If we make good use of them, we can not only accumulate our own vocabulary but also improve our ability of language analysis and logical thinking.

Recently, our reading classes start reading news to promote our reading ability. After reading the news, I learned an ascending number of vocabulary that I will not touch in TPO. For example, we read an article about a family slays another family. In this news I met “arrest” ”attest” “prosecutor” “custody” and so on. It is good for me to not only know more vocabulary, but also get the ability to receive news in future when I study in America. Another benefit is that we can expand our insights by reading those passages.

To practice English better, doing some readings is a good suggestion. And doing reading not only heightens our reading ability but also increases our knowledge. Our reading teacher assigns us some news to read every week. I think the news we read is very close to our life. These pieces of news show series of international events. All they reflect many real problems, like human and nature, relationships between two nations, and even people’s contradiction in the society. So many things are embodying in the materials. It encourages us to pay more attention to our living of the modern world. And the most important thing is that it arouses our sense to care about social problems, not only the study to get a high score.

We have been reading several different articles every week, which can help us catch up with the world. A few weeks ago, there was heated discussed news about gene-editing baby and our teacher gave us an article related to this topic. From reading this article, I learned a lot about the gene-editing technique and people’s opinions toward gene-editing baby. I learned that some people thought it was good to have such experiments because it could help us prevent fatal illness such as AIDS and other congenital defects. I think that people don’t have the rights to edit baby’s gene, even though they are their parents. People are born to be equal, while the appearance of gene-editing baby breaks the scale. The articles that our teachers give us every week really broaden my horizon and make me think a lot.
