目前，上海莱克顿学校开设了IGCSE物理和化学两门学科。IGCSE化学是一个班，班上有四名十年级学生;IGCSE物理有两个班，一个班是十六名十年级学生，另一个班是四名十一年级学生。学校的科学课教研组的主要宗旨是通过学习实践技能来学习理论知识，而实践教学法的主要目的是让学生领悟到这门课的热情和乐趣、鼓励学生参与到学习过程中，并通过调查研究使学生对教学大纲的内容有良好的理解。

科学课

In the first academic year, IGCSE Physics and Chemistry are offered to the students. There are 4 students enrolled in 2-year IGCSE Chemistry class and 20 students enrolled in IGCSE Physics (4 students in the Year 11 class and 16 students in the Year 10 class). Developing practical skills and learning by doing is the main moto of the Science Department at Lucton School. Key objectives of activity-based teaching are to provide students with enthusiasm and enjoyment for learning, to aspire and involve students in the learning process and to develop a sound understanding of the syllabus content by investigations.

Year 11s have limited time to cover the IGCSE syllabus by the end of April. We have carried out major experiments from the syllabus that were required to explain a concept. Use of transformers to show how voltage could be stepped up or stepped down was one such experiment. 5 two-hour long revision sessions are arranged on top of normal class time for students to practice past exam questions under direct supervision from the teacher.
