观赏原版话剧《理智与情感》

近日，美国诺科学校上海分校部分选修英美文学和AP英语课程的学生，就在Mr. Kody Messner和方洁老师的带领下，一同前往上海大剧院观赏了原版话剧《理智与情感》。

原汁原味的场景、道具、服装、台词，营造出一间生动的文学课堂，让学生对英国社会环境和女性意识的变迁有了更进一步的认识。

《理智与情感》是英国女作家简·奥斯汀创作的长篇小说，讲述英国乡绅家庭的两姐妹埃莉诺和玛丽安曲折复杂的婚事风波，姐姐善于用理智来控制情感，妹妹的情感却毫无节制，因此面对爱情时，她们作出了不同的反应。小说通过“理智与情感”的幽默对比，提出了道德与行为的规范问题。

Recently, our Junior students had the fantastic opportunity to see the play Sense and Sensibility in the Shanghai Grand Theater. The play, based on the 19th century novel, focuses on the life of two sisters, Marianne and Elinor, who are left virtually penniless after the passing of their father. Our students had just finished another play, Hamlet, and were very excited for a trip to the theater! Although our students have very little in common with two girls from 19th century England, watching a performance made our students see that they actually are confronted today with many of the same problems and themes. After watching the play, we have begun reading the novel form of the story and our trip to the theater has made the students much more invested in the story. They have already seen the story brought to life on the stage and are enjoying seeing the differences between the novel and the performance. When we finish the story, our students will recreate the story in their own vision. Our trip to the theater has given them lots of ideas for their own performance!

很多学生在英语学习过程中都有这样的感触：自己的英语听说能力已经挺好的了，标化考试也取得了不错的成绩，但是真正在与外国人交流时，还是存在这样那样的障碍。我们说的英语听上去似乎很流利，但老外就是不明白;老外说英语时，虽然每个单词的意思我们都懂，但还是不明白他们到底要表达什么。实际上，交流的真正障碍不在于语言，而在于文化。这是由中西方价值观差异、交际文化差异和知识文化差异而导致的沟通障碍、交流障碍和理解障碍。
