在美国诺科学校上海分校，“诚信”始终被看做学生最基本、最重要的素质。我们认为，教育学生成为一名诚信的人，远比帮助他们取得优异的成绩更加重要，我们要培养学生诚实守信，言行一致，不作弊、不说谎、不偷盗。

诚信教育

诚信教育，渗透在学校生活中的点点滴滴。具体有哪些做法，学生的感受又如何呢?让我们一起来看看来自10年级1班杨文俐同学是怎么说的。

在我们学校，Honor Code被视为学生行为规范的首要准则，如果有学生违反，Honor Council的老师和同学就会召集会议，当事学生也会被要求参加，这个学生可以就违反纪律的行为阐述其想法、理由和认识，在充分听取其陈述后，Honor Council的成员发表意见，最后做出他们的决定，当事学生是否会受到处罚，处罚的内容和程度等。

Honor is respect. It is the respect for your classmates, your teachers, your school, and yourself. If a person does not know how to respect himself, then we will not expect that he will respect other people. Moreover, honor is privilege. It can prove word is value. And it can determine what kind of person you are.

那么，什么是Honor Code呢?广义地来说，Honor是尊敬的意思。作为学生，要懂得尊敬你的同学，你的老师，以及你的学校。如果一个人都不懂得尊重自己，那我们便不期待他会尊重其他人。狭义地来说，Honor Code具体指的就是"I will not cheat. I will not lie. I will not steal."这一“诚信准则”。

From past few years, we can know that Chinese students always lack that kind of awareness to be honest. Even for those Chinese students who attend Top Universities in America, when they face intensive study, they cannot handle it very well. At that time, they will choose to use some bad ways to finish the work. The reason they did this is that the education standard is different in every country. Unfortunately, they will be dropped out from the university. And this have negative effects for their future.

在过去几年中，我们也时有听说，在美国读书的中国学生做出了有失诚信的行为。即便是那些进入到世界名校的学生，当他们面临着巨大的学习压力时，他们也会选择用一些“快捷”的方式去完成作业。当被学校或者老师发现后，他们会被退学，这个代价是很惨重的。

我们的班主任青文老师告诉我们，她在英国读书时，所有的课程作业在教授审阅前，都会经过一个叫做turnitin的查重系统来比对学生的作业内容与现存文献的重复比例。学术诚信往往被认为比成绩本身更加重要。

In-text citation is an important thing, that means we need to give credit to that kind of information which are not come up with ourselves. For what things do we need to use quotation marks? There are four situations for it:

when the information is come from books, films, magazines or whatever;

when the information comes from interview and conversation;

when we use exact words;

when we use a chart, drawing, or photograph.

因此在学术创作中，“引用”是一件很重要的事情，这意味着我们需要给从别处拿来的信息标明出处，以表示这些东西并不是我们自己的创作。对于以下几种情况，我们应该用引号标明出处：

当那些信息是从书中，杂志中或者电影里摘录的;

当那些信息是从采访和谈话中得到的;

当我们用到一些专有名词时;

当我们摘录一些照片或图画时;

All in all, being honest is the truth that almost every parent will teach their children at an early age. We need to have that kind of awareness to be honest. Honor Code and Honor Council are just two normal things to help us to establish that positive spirit!

在我们很小的时候，父母就教导我们要做诚实的人，时刻牢记“诚信”二字，因为这是为人处世最基本的原则。如今，我们都在Honor Code下签上了自己的名字，我们就必须要监守诚信准则，兑现自己郑重的承诺。
