2020年12月1日星期四，由上海诺科学校学生活动中心携手艺术组共同举办了学生艺术作品展暨圣诞亮灯仪式。一起来感受一个充满艺术气息的圣诞预热现场吧。

I am very proud to present this year's end of term students art exhibition. The students this term in prep have worked very well and I am pleased with their progress in class. As the term progressed, we moved forward and we looked at the artist Friedrich Stowasser, better known by his pseudonym Friedensreich Regentag Dunkelbunt Hundertwasser, was an Austrian visual artist and architect who also worked in the field of environmental protection.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser thought straight lines were soulless, boring; he hated how they were the accepted thoughtlessly as the standard for architecture, confining human beings within inhuman boundaries. His works falls under the category of modern art.

I wanted the students to create buildings using small cardboard boxes that represented their personalities. Decorated in bright vibrant colours with added facades like that of Hundertwasser's architecture. Each students work is a reflection of their personality in an architectural form.

Moving on to my Pre Ap students work. We looked at the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat he was an American artist of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent.

Basquiat's art focused on dichotomies such as wealth versus poverty, integration versus segregation, and inner versus outer experience. He appropriated poetry, drawing, and painting, and married text and image, abstraction, figuration, and historical information mixed with contemporary critique. Basquiat used social commentary in his paintings as a tool for introspection and for identifying with his experiences in the black community of his time, as well as attacks on power structures and systems of racism. Basquiat's visual poetics were acutely political and direct in their criticism of colonialism and support for class struggle.

Since his death at the age of 27 from a heroin overdose in 1988, his work has steadily increased in value. At a Sotheby's auction in May 2017, Untitled, a 1982 painting by Basquiat depicting a black skull with red and yellow rivulets, sold for $110.5 million, becoming one of the most expensive paintings ever purchased. It also set a new record high for an American artist at auction.

We see the students first attempt at deciphering their thoughts and feelings in graffiti form.

In spring we shall be looking at modern art and abstract artists and I will pass on some of my secrets in art to the students who are interested in painting further.
