SVSU's nationally-accredited social work bachelor's degree program and expert faculty offer a mentoring environment with opportunities to learn in and outside of the classroom. Students develop leadership skills while helping actual clients in need, from various backgrounds in the community. Students experience learning beyond the classroom through field-work and service-learning in urban and rural settings with social justice and advocacy organizations. They are provided opportunities to research with faculty and participate in inter-professional learning activities where they can gain a distinct advantage for graduate-level learning and career placement. SVSU recognizes that social work is a profession that interacts with many other disciplines and has adopted an interdisciplinary approach that will help all of our Cardinals soar!

The Social Work undergraduate degree program prepares students with introductions to psychology, biology, sociology, political science and economics. The courses offered insight into diverse populations and community programs with faculty members that have expertise in substance use, foster care and adoption, gerontology, LGBT youth and families, community organizing, research and the law. Learning beyond the classroom is emphasized throughout the program, culminating in a field experience designed to prepare students for professional social work practice or future graduate studies.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must currently be a junior or senior in high school (with or without college credits), or have graduated high school and have taken no college courses. We strongly recommend high school students take a rigorous college preparatory curriculum prior to enrolling at SVSU. The primary core includes: 4 years of English; 3 years of mathematics (through second year algebra); 3 years of natural sciences (at least two years of biology, chemistry, or physics); 3 years of social sciences; 2 years of the same foreign language. Minimum Language Requirements: Minimum GPA: 2.0; TOEFL- IBT: 61; IELTS: 5.5; PTE: 45.
