Secondary Level

Foreign language majors who are candidates for teacher certification at the secondary level must fulfill all the requirements for the major in French or Spanish. Foreign language minors who are candidates for teacher certification at the secondary level must take GER 321 or SPAN 311 as part of their minor. Foreign language majors and minors who are candidates for teacher certification at the secondary level must take MFL 466 - Sec Foreign Language Methods. Foreign language majors or minors who are candidates for teacher certification at the secondary level must take an interim test of oral language proficiency no later than the semester in which they take MFL 466 Sec Foreign Language Methods. Foreign language majors or minors who are candidates for teacher certification at the secondary level must pass the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) with a minimum rating of Advanced Low. Foreign language majors and minors who are candidates for teacher certification at the secondary level must fulfill all the requirements for certification as prescribed by the College of Education.

K-12 Levels

Foreign language majors who are candidates for teacher certification at the K-12 levels must fulfill all the requirements for the major in French or Spanish. Foreign language majors who are candidates for teacher certification at the K-12 levels must take MFL 466 - Sec Foreign Language Methods. Foreign language majors who are candidates for teacher certification at the K-12 levels must take MFL 465 - Elem Foreign Language Methods. Foreign language majors or minors who are candidates for teacher certification at the K-12 levels must take an interim test of oral language proficiency no later than the semester in which they take MFL 466 Sec Foreign Language Methods. Foreign language majors or minors who are candidates for teacher certification at the K-12 levels must pass the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) with a minimum rating of Advanced Low. 为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must currently be a junior or senior in high school (with or without college credits), or have graduated high school and have taken no college courses. We strongly recommend high school students take a rigorous college preparatory curriculum prior to enrolling at SVSU. The primary core includes: 4 years of English; 3 years of mathematics (through second year algebra); 3 years of natural sciences (at least two years of biology, chemistry, or physics); 3 years of social sciences; 2 years of the same foreign language. Minimum Language Requirements: Minimum GPA: 2.0; TOEFL- IBT: 61; IELTS: 5.5; PTE: 45.
