专业概况

在这里学什么？

Public Health professionals care for the well-being of individuals and entire communities. Therefore, students studying within the program will acquire knowledge and skills to promote health and prevent disease across populations and within the U.S.A. healthcare system. With a flexible curriculum and coursework, SVSU's Public Health major has been designed to educate individuals for a field that is growing in demand. With a comprehensive approach, that enhances and expands upon experimental biology, epidemiology, healthy aging and health care systems as a whole—SVSU is applying public health concepts, approaches and tools to address some of the major public health challenges of today. Students gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills as they conduct research in the field and understand how social factors impact the health of entire populations.

The Public Health degree is designed to provide students with an understanding of public health principles and practices. Students will focus their coursework on health promotion or health administration. Fieldwork provides students with an opportunity to gain experience in public health practice that will prepare them for future employment or graduate school.

Students can choose two tracks of study—Health Promotion (HP) or Health Administration (HA).

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must currently be a junior or senior in high school (with or without college credits), or have graduated high school and have taken no college courses. We strongly recommend high school students take a rigorous college preparatory curriculum prior to enrolling at SVSU. The primary core includes: 4 years of English; 3 years of mathematics (through second year algebra); 3 years of natural sciences (at least two years of biology, chemistry, or physics); 3 years of social sciences; 2 years of the same foreign language. Minimum Language Requirements: Minimum GPA: 2.0; TOEFL- IBT: 61; IELTS: 5.5; PTE: 45.
