28 credits in French courses numbered FREN 211 or higher.

It is strongly recommended that a minimum of 6 credit hours be taken abroad in a country where French is spoken. These credit hours can be taken to fulfill required or elective courses in the major with instructor approval.

Students whose French proficiency is beyond FREN 211 will take FREN 212, and the remaining credits at the 300-400 levels; they will not receive credit for FREN 211. Students whose French proficiency is beyond FREN 212 will take all their courses at the 300-400 levels and will not receive credit for FREN 211 or 212.

We strongly recommend high school students take a rigorous college preparatory curriculum prior to enrolling at SVSU. The primary core includes: 4 years of English; 3 years of mathematics (through second year algebra); 3 years of natural sciences (at least two years of biology, chemistry, or physics); 3 years of social sciences; 2 years of the same foreign language. Minimum Language Requirements: Minimum GPA: 2.0; TOEFL- IBT: 61; IELTS: 5.5; PTE: 45.
