湘西凤凰县乡村调研

During the summer vacation, I participated in a field investigation organized by "Beyond the City". It took us 7 hours to get to the Liangdeng Village of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture by train, which is thousands of kilometers away from Shanghai. Through the six-day investigation of Liangdeng Village, I have basically understood the living condition of grassroots rural people. If I have to use a word to describe this village, I think I will use "clean" instead of "plain" or "simple".

With China's reform and opening up, many big cities in China have successfully implemented socialism with Chinese characteristics and promoted economic development with government support. I used to think our generation would never escape from an economically prosperous city and a complex environment, until I came to the Liangdeng Village of the Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Xiangxi. The people living here have only one purpose for life: to get rid of poverty.

Fortunately, an increasing number of poverty-stricken areas is shaking off poverty with the help of our government. I talked to the cadres of Shanjiang Town and found out that the annual per-capita income of Liangdeng Village just reach over 3,000 yuan. The cadre hopes they would achieve the goal of raising it to over 5,000 yuan in 2025. In addition, according to my investigation, Liangliang Village is in the process of getting rich, but is still awaiting the funds from the government…

Mountain Climbing

When we first arrived at Liangdeng Village and started the investigation, the lead teacher hoped that we could experience the local village life, so we climbed mountains.

According to my memory, this was my first time climbing a mountain. Looking out far, there were endless mountains. They looked very impressive and magnificent. The uphill road made me hard to breathe within the first ten minutes, and I stopped. I stood with arms akimbo, took a break and continued to climb after a few minutes...

The downhill way was my favorite, although it was more dangerous than the uphill road, since the direction of downhill road was the same as that of the gravitational force.

If the experience of mountain climbing was horrible, then climbing onto wild mountains was really a torture. On the fifth day of the tour, we set off at 8 a.m to climb a wild mountain. In my opinion, wild mountains are just full of insects, but the experience of climbing onto it makes me feel differently. The roads on the wild mountains were very slippery. There was no bluestone road that we could set our feet on, and there were no guardrails as well. One second of absent-mindedness, we will fall onto the floor, or even fall into the valley. I grabbed the plant branches next to me so that I could slowly move forward, even with the help of my teammates in front of me. On my way back, I was with three girls and we supported each other walking through the waterway , gravel road etc. During the terrifying "adventure" I would say, I fell into the water several times. As a result, my clothes were soaked and arms were scratched by the thorny branches. Finally at 5:30 in the evening, we rushed back to our dorms. And fortunately, we were the second group to arrive. Research

Our research focuses on "the status quo and future development of the Miao language", and we took the Liangdeng Village as the sample. Language is an indispensable foundation for the existence and development of a culture, and is a unique symbol of identity of different nationalities. I conducted a social survey on Liangdeng Village to analyze the use of local Miao language, the population and the potential obstacles to the future development of the language. We analyzed the current resident population, age, economic status, leading industries in Liangdeng Village, and environmental factors to summarize the close relationship between the development of Miao language and the above factors.

Due to the fact that Mandarin is widely used among new generations, the current Miao language is actually a combination of Mandarin and authentic Miao language, which is one of the inevitable results of promoting Mandarin among minority group

The people here were incredibly kind and amazing, and now I want to describe them with the same sentence I posted on my WeChat moments, "The folks here are all unsophisticated, simple-hearted, pure and beautiful ".

Here I saw the starry sky every day, which we could hardly see in Shanghai. It was incredibly awesome and unforgettable!!

Summary

I have been living in a large city for a long time. It seems that I can only see skyscrapers when I look up. I never thought that there was such a place, where the sky was pure blue, the sun was dazzling, and the night was accompanied by the stars. Every time I looked down, I saw a group of innocent children and enthusiastic fellows. That kind of simplicity and purity is never seen in the city and maybe this is what we are missing.

I feel so grateful for this experience, and I am so glad that the world is not that big as we thought and all these are just steps away.
