专业概况

The Master of Public Health (MPH) provides a balance of academic theory and real world experience, ensuring students are well prepared for a career in public health or to pursue further education. The Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) concentration is a great choice for those who want to have an impact on population health. Students learn the individual, cultural, and societal determinants of health, as well as social and behavioral theories. With opportunities to use what they learn in applied experiences, students will develop, implement and evaluate health promotion interventions.

Faculty

The Social and Behavioral Sciences department is comprised of a renowned, award-winning faculty with research interests focused on important local and global health issues, including breast cancer, coping with stress, chronic disease health disparities, family health, risky sex behaviors, the complex relationship between place and health and primary prevention of chronic disease.

Curriculum

All MPH candidates must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 45 credits. For those pursuing the Social and Behavioral Sciences concentration, the curriculum includes required core courses, Social and Behavioral Sciences courses, and elective courses. In addition, each student must complete an internship and a final concentration project.
