Overview

With increasing financial regulation, there’s a lot of pressure on corporations to get it right. We take the latest theories and show you how to apply them to the world of corporate finance and investment management. You’ll develop a strong understanding of the internal workings of corporations, institutions, and firms. We’ll help you prepare for the big challenges of the financial world, with modules in investment management, risk management, and financial statements and valuation analysis.

Course detail

Whether you’re just starting your career, or you’re an expert business analyst, we’ll provide an intellectually challenging environment for you to develop your skills. You’ll develop new research, theory, and analysis skills – as well as the means to apply these to the working world. The course will provide you with cutting-edge theories in corporate finance and investment management – as well as the knowledge of how to apply them. You’ll learn about the industry in real depth, from the philosophies behind a social science study of business decisions, to the relationship between corporations and their external macroeconomic environment.

Teaching and assessment

We use lectures, seminars and group tutorials to deliver most of the modules on the course. You will also be expected to undertake a significant amount of independent study. Throughout the degree students are assessed by a variety of methods, which include written examinations, coursework and individual or group projects and presentations for the taught modules. The dissertation submitted in September each year is worth 60 credits. Assignment feedback is provided within four working weeks of submission.
