The European Studies (French pathway) BA is an interdepartmental study course that allows you to study Modern Europe from a French perspective. You will study the politics, history, language and contemporary culture of France in depth. This will prepare you for the third year, which is typically taught and examined in French at Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po), our current French partner.

Course Aims
- This degree is a four-year study course composed of optional and required modules totalling 450 credits. Each year at King’s you will take modules totalling 120 credits, except for your third year when you will take 90 credits.
- The European Studies (French pathway) BA degree course is split between European Studies modules and French-specific modules.
- You will study a range of modules that cover European politics, political economy, political thought, contemporary history, culture, economics, and law, and then focus on French politics, history, language and contemporary culture.
- In your third year you will study overseas, developing your modern language skills and deepening your understanding of French culture and attitudes to Europe.
Employability
Graduates from our European Studies BA course have taken up posts with the Foreign Office, with leading financial institutions, with cultural organisations or with lobbying firms at the European Commission. Others have worked in public and private agencies and think-tanks in the UK, as well as further afield in countries ranging from Bosnia to Japan. Many students have undertaken work placements in the media, working for the French Newspaper Liberation, the Franco-German TV station Arte and Radio- France International.
