Students majoring in sports management study the management and marketing of sports events, the financial principles of sports, and the PR and promotion of sports. Sports management majors also complete a business certificate from the Kelley School of Business, preparing them for a successful career in the sports arena.

The Sports Management track is for students who want to make their mark on the business side of the sports industry.

You'll study in the Amateur Sports Capital of the World, home to six professional sports franchises, several Olympic governing bodies, the NCAA, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Students work directly with these and other organizations before they graduate, interning with professional and amateur sports teams and solving real-life business problems.

The Sports Management major in the Department of Tourism, Conventions and Event Management at IUPUI deals with the business side of the multibillion dollar sports industry. Upon completion of this degree, students will be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the unique interrelationship between sport and society.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the various revenue streams and expenses in the sport management industries.
• Demonstrate an ability to generate revenue in the sport industry.
• Identify, classify, and treat the potential risks associated with managing an event, organization, stadium, or other sport venue.
• Integrate and apply knowledge to analyze an industry issue and recommend solutions.
• Present a persuasive argument both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate the professional behaviors necessary to successfully enter the sport industry.
• Demonstrate the ability to explore career opportunities by critically examining one's knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to desired career goals.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants must have completed or will complete secondary school by the time of enrollment; No grade point average guarantees admission to IUPUI. We look for applicants who have demonstrated a "B" average or above average grades, with strong grades in math and science. TOEFL (iBT) – 60; IELTS – 5.5; IUPUI Program for Intensive English (PIE) score of Level 5; GCSE or GCE O Level in English language score of Grades A-C; International Baccalaureate score of Higher Level English A1 or A2 Certificate, grade of 4 or higher; Freshman English Composition Course score of "C" grade or higher (equivalent to IUPUI W131) from a regionally accredited U.S. University.
