专业概况

The Animation students engage with a range of animation practices including traditional methods of filmmaking through to the latest industry-facing technology. With a focus on character, performance and short-form storytelling we prepare you for the vibrant and innovative world of the moving image industries. The thrill of creating the ‘illusion of life’ is always a rewarding one. If you love the thought of giving life to inanimate objects using 2D, 3D and stop motion animation - whether they are hand drawn pictures, a stop motion puppet, CGI models or found objects - this course could be for you. You’ll cover topics such as drawing, sequential image making, 2D and 3D animation, character development and performance, storytelling, editing and the historical and contemporary context of animation. We place an importance on ideas generation and communicating these concepts to your peers, preparing you for pitches and proposals in an industry environment. You’ll learn through specialist lectures, technical demonstrations and seminars, focusing on acting principles through the creation of professionally crafted animation using industry-recognised technologies. The creation of engaging, broadcast quality animated sequences, short films and stings will be a key part of this course. Graduates from our Animation degree have moved into a diverse range of careers within animation and film. Many are employed by international studios such as Boulder Media, Aardman Feature Animation, FWD, Ragdoll Productions, Double Negative and Cinesite.
