The Film and Television Masters Programs (MFA and MA) offered by the School of Communication and Media Arts at Sacred Heart University are “conservatory style” programs devoted to cinematic storytelling across all platforms.

Our program is designed to foster the next generation of storytellers through dynamic workshops and independent projects. FTMA’s home is in the heart of Connecticut’s “Creative Corridor” with close ties to nearby New York City. Focusing on story and hands-on production, students learn the craft and techniques that will empower them to stand out in today's media market. Our program is especially unique in that our students complete their own professional portfolio while going beyond the classroom into professional environments. Through partnerships with media companies and guidance from industry professionals, our students tailor their concentration to meet their career needs.

Student Learning Outcomes

Develop the craft and technique involved in film and television production, from screenwriting, cinematography/videographer, editing, lighting, and post-production, to directing, producing, and distribution.

Develop the intellectual engagement necessary for visual and cinematic narrative, and a lasting commitment to film, television and trans-media storytelling.

Develop a theoretical, aesthetic, and historical understanding of film and television as narrative media and industries.

为来自中国的学生设计 International graduate students must possess the equivalent of a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. The following examinations and minimum scores are accepted: TOFEL score of 550 on the paper-based test or 80 on the TOFEL iBT, IELTS - 6.5, SHU ELI online placement exam - 80%, PTE - 62, iTEP - 5, ELS English for Academic Purposes - Level 112, Education First (EF) - C1, Cambridge Advanced English - 58, Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - 5.5, Cambridge Certificate in Proficiency in English (CPE) - 5.5.
