在这里学什么？ You will study very broad subjects in your foundation year, which is designed to prepare you for a range of courses, not just one particular BSc degree.So although you apply to study a BSc in a specific course – in this case BSc Mental Health Nursing – the foundation year sets you up for a number of other possible degrees starting the following year. It may be that you don’t end up doing a degree in precisely the same subject as your foundation year.This flexibility is one of the great things about the foundation year category - Health and Life Sciences; it allows you to find out more about your interests and talents before focusing on a three year degree. The foundation year also helps us at BCU to make sure we help to match you to the degree that fits you best.You will need to be assessed for progression on to your second year, which would be the first year of your BSc-level degree.The BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing course will help you develop the knowledge, skills and values you'll need to meet the mental health needs of a diverse population. This may be empowering individuals on their unique journeys to recovery, or providing ongoing high-quality care to support people of all ages so that they can experience a full, active and meaningful life. Birmingham City University is the largest regional provider of qualified staff to the NHS (for health and social services), with over 99% of our nursing students progressing to graduate-level work or further study within 6 months of completing the course (DHLE Survey 2016/17). By employing a variety of innovative and contemporary teaching methods, this programme will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive as a mental health nurse, with several of our alumni being awarded prizes at a national level for their achievements. Extracurricular experiences include the opportunity for international visits through our Go Abroad scheme, giving you the edge in later job interviews.
