Ceramics

Our program offers a broad technical and conceptual experience through experimentation with a range of approaches to the medium, from sculptural to functional, and nontraditional to traditional.

Design and Visual Communication

The competitive field of Design requires practitioners who are intellectually curious, inventive, dedicated, critical, collaborative, and proactive life-long learners. Our students meet that need by developing as strategists, problem-identifiers, problem-solvers, and business partners.

Digital Studio Practice

Centered on the study and use of digital technologies in direct relation to traditional visual art, our students combine interactive and electronic media with a secondary established focus (such as Ceramics, Fibers, Design etc.) to create new forms of art.

Fibers

Our program includes a multi-cultural history of textiles, contemporary fiber artists, and the integration of traditional techniques with digital media. Students will develop an understanding and appreciation of fibers and its visual language, while learning its traditional processes and contemporary Applications.

Jewelry and Metalsmithing

In development of metal objects and wearables, our program focuses on qualities unique to Metalsmithing as a craft practice. Students gain an understanding of the discipline, its conditions, possibilities and limitations, while allowing for multiple traditional and experimental processes and approaches.

Painting and Drawing

Our program provides an intensive opportunity to develop formal and technical skills, balanced with conceptual and material exploration. Students are encouraged to search for answers to questions about the relevance and position painting holds in contemporary art practice, its relation to global visual culture, and today's information-age and multi-cultural environments.

Photography and Imaging

Our program emphasizes a conceptual fine art practice through the production of darkroom, digital, and hybrid work. Courses integrate socially situated projects with an understanding of both contemporary and historical visual culture by developing a vocabulary for effective communication within the photographic medium.

Print and Narrative Forms

Our program explores both historical and contemporary Applications of fine art printmaking. Students are encouraged to focus not only on the image itself, but also how it communicates in the context of its structure and presentation.

Sculpture

Our program focuses on instilling in every student the practical, hands-on knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques necessary to cross boundaries, invent processes, and explore innovative content in the areas of object-making, installation, performance, site-work, time-based art, and digital forms.
