专业概况

Advance your theatre skills and learn how to work as a collaborative practitioner on a series of production- based projects with the support and guidance of professional creative industry practitioners.

This practice - based MA, is perfect for emerging and established set and costume designers, theatre scenographers, directors, dramaturgs, technicians and stage and production managers. It offers real world opportunities to extend and develop their experience of working in artistic and creative roles within theatre production teams, helping them realise play texts for performance.

You will learn and enhance your specific theatre skills and processes and practices: working imaginatively, creatively, collaboratively on specified theatre projects. In the first instance these will normally be through negotiated roles on undergraduate productions of either a contemporary or classical play.

We will help you negotiate your own professional creative industry placement, offering you valuable entrepreneurial and enterprise skills, career enhancement skills and opportunities.

You will be required to work with your fellow students to create and develop your own unique theatre company. Once established you will work collaboratively on an agreed theatre project of your choice, work with professional actors and tour your work to venues you negotiate and arrange.

Throughout the programme you will be taught, mentored and supported by experienced theatre practitioners and established creative industry experts. Your industry work will be supported by the BeInspired team at Staffordshire University, who will offer you opportunities to apply for a year’s free career advice and funding after you graduate.

On successful completion of study, we will issue the following award: MA Collaborative Theatre Practice.

Teaching

On this course, you will learn via a combination of masterclasses, workshops, rehearsals, seminars, production meetings and tutorials. Independent study and research also constitute an important part of your learning. You will be given reading assignments on a regular basis. Tutors will provide supporting materials and formative and summative assessments to help you.Our teaching is supported through our Virtual Learning Environment called Blackboard. This means you can access a range of materials to support your studies wherever you are.
