专业概况

This course reflects the rich and diverse nature of contemporary image making. Working with both digital and craft-based media, they will challenge the boundaries of contemporary image making. Experimentation is key to developing their practice. They will do this alongside creative thinking to form meaning and content. Working alongside graphic design students, they will absorb a broad knowledge of the design/image-making process, problem solving and visual language via a programme of set projects, lectures, seminars, workshops, critiques and studio practice. Our flexible studio space fosters an integrated approach to learning and we encourage they to collaborate, experiment and engage in a wide range of related visual practices. These include: Image Making Techniques, Type and Image, Illustration for Information and Promotion, Photography, Visual Storytelling, Editorial Illustration, Crafts and Animation. They will have access to tutorial and group designated zones and central iMac/digital facilities. Our workshop facilities include a dedicated life-drawing studio, textiles, screen printing, letterpress and experimental print, photography, animation, digital suites/labs and laser-cutting. Our team of specialist and award-winning lecturers has strong links with industry. We encourage them to work with students from other disciplines, so they will work in teams as well as independently. They will develop their understanding of contemporary illustration and they will nurture their skills and image-making techniques through specialist platforms, including: printmaking, digital imaging, animation, life drawing and 3D craft (wood, metal, plastic, ceramics and textiles).
